ESAD Occasions Catalogue Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog, I hope you have seen some amazing and inspiring projects so far. Don’t you just love what Andrea Buckland shared.

I have a project to share with you that I have been working on now for a week or so, no its not a difficult one but when you are making 20 of them for a swap it is very time consuming. I have chosen to demonstrate the Spiral Flower Die. I have made up plenty of prototypes which I will show you using different colour combos and techniques. In the end I used a completely different colour combination. Here is my swap that I made, it is a cute post it note holder:

This is it all opened out flat:

As you can see it is a very simple piece but with a few different features in it. The rose is made with Daffodil Delight Cardstock and sponged with Tangerine Tango Ink to give the two tone effect. I have used Pool party Cardstock as my base and covered it with the new DSP called Watercolour Wonder. I love this paper. I have used a plain piece with the two tones on it and then stamped in Basic black ink with Peaceful Petals to add the images on it. To seal the post it note holder I have used our candy dot Brads. The top is cut using another new product called the Scallop Tag Topper Punch. It goes to show you can use it for just about anything.

Here are the flowers I had a play with:

They may all look the same but trust me they are not. Most of them are two toned, so I rolled two different colours together and they are rolled in two different ways. One is where you hold the two colours together and roll and the other is when you roll one then add another at the end and keep rolling.

The main colour in all these is Pool Party to go with the base of the sticky note holder. The top left one is rolled with sky blue. the middle one is the same colours but a tighter roll and I put the sky blue on the inside to see if that made any difference. the right top one is firstly rolled with Pool Party and then rolled with Island Indigo. The bottom left is rolled with Very Vanilla that is sponged with Island Indigo on the edges. The middle one is rolled with Smokey Slate and the lucky last is rolled with just two pieces of Pool Party that are also sponged on the edges. I decided the Blue just didn’t work for me and went for the yellow.
