Wow what an Amazing Weekend

It all started on Saturday when I decided I had better get on to it and plant the front yard, we have just had it dug up and re-layed with top soil last week to get all the horrible stones out of the lawn from our previous landscaping late last year. Well I managed to dig and plant 34 GRISELINIA BROADWAY MINT trees, that was a massive effort for me as I have never really done any gardening before.

And Sunday was a day for crafting, we had an all day on-line craft extravaganza (well thats what I am calling it) every hour we made a new project with written instructions and photos to go by. This was in aid to fundraise for cancer, and congratulations ladies we made over $500.

Here are a few photos of the days projects.

Happy Mother’s Day Mum

Good evening, Well tonight I finally finished off my mother’s day cards. I made four this year one for my mother, one for Nicks mum, one for Nicks step mum and one for my cards box. ( I always make an extra to keep) I kept them simple but I really like how they turned out. I choose Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White as my colours. Since Rich Razzleberry doesn’t come in any DSP that I have I made my own using the Sweet Summer stamp set from this years SAB sets.

Sorry about the quality of the photos, I have taken them late at night.

Guest Designer on Try Stampin’ On Tuesday

Good afternoon, and what an afternoon it has been. We have just had a tornado up the road at our local mall. So far reports are saying one is dead and at least 22 injured. This just doesn’t happen here in New Zealand. I hope everyone is well and my heart goes out to those injured or families grieving.

Today I am sharing a card I made for this weeks Try Stampin’ on Tuesday challenge, though it is a bit more special for me this week as I was honoured to be asked to be a guest designer for this weeks sketch.

For my card I have used Upsy Daisy as my main image. I have stamped first in Sahara Sand and then again just beside the first image in Basic Gray to give a shadow effect. the butterflies are stamped in Basic Gray and sponged around the edges.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my card:

TST #12 and JAI #66

Good morning, It was a nice day yesterday here in Auckland, I had my hair highlighted and cut and of course I finished my card for this weeks sketch at Try Stampin On Tuesday. After seeing some other blogs I realised that I could also add this to this weeks challenge at Just Add Ink, as it is just add flowers.

This card took me a lot longer than I would normally spend on a card, I must admit I re-did a few things more than once, I just couldn’t get it to come together. I love the finished card it has a few techniques on it like popping pastels on the Medallion Stamp ( I just got mine so I had to use them), Water colouring on the flowers (bookmark), sponging around the edges, I used my markers to colour in the paper flowers to match the colours on the card and I have used Vellum on the butterfly with staz on and then used my markers again to colour in the back side of the image so it’s not so dark. I have also coloured some ribbon Bravo Burgundy to match using my brayer and used my Scallop Border punch to create the border on the circle. Wow that’s a lot of techniques on one card, no wonder it took me three days to get this one finished. (not whole days of course)

There are a few firsts here for me like colouring ribbon, i couldn’t believe how easy it was, and it is a great way to get that colour you want if SU doesn’t make it. I used my brayer as it goes on so easy and fast, I then but it on the window sill to dry for about an hour.

The other first I did was colour white paper flowers, this was also very easy and convenient as I didn’t have any in these colours. I just used the thick end of my marker and coloured them in. These also need time to dry.

So the challenge for TST was a pocket card, I decided to make a bookmark to go in my pocket, I know a lot of readers so it will suit a few people. Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

Bookmark: can you see the Vellum on the butterfly, in real life this looks really pretty. I wanted something special on the bookmark but it couldn’t be bulky so this is what I came up with.

DSC00079

Of course I didn’t want a plain look when you removed the bookmark so I placed a simple sentiment on the base.
