Clean And Simple #133

Good afternoon, Well I have returned from my holiday in Melbourne and am getting back into a routine. Melbourne was great, we did a lot of shopping and attended the Grand Prix.

Today I have made a card for this weeks clean and simple challenge, I haven’t done this challenge for a while and I quite liked this weeks sketch. Once again I have done black and white with a touch of colour (seems to be my favourite at the moment).

I have used the embossing folder Elegant Bouquet twice but the second time I have turned the image upside down and stuck it on dimensionals. Since the embossing part is only on one side I thought it would be nice to give the other corner some embellishment, and to even out the card.

I have used Vellum for my strip across the top as I didn’t want anything too obvious there. The butterflies are from the Beautiful Wings die and finished with some small Pearls.

Here is the sketch:

Try Stampin’ on Tuesday #6

Good afternoon, well today my husband and I are off to Melbourne for a nice holiday, but before I go I wanted to quickly post this card I made for this weeks Try Stampin’ on Tuesday. I got the idea from our groups ATC swaps this month, I really wanted to put mine to use as I made an extra one. The challenge was black and white silhouette,  and this weeks sketch fitted the size and shape perfectly.

As you can see I have copied the clouds over to the main card front to allow the swap to blend in, and I couldn’t believe how much it really worked. I am loving the neutral look with a touch of colour, I think it really brings out the focal point of the card.

Here is the sketch:

Clean and Simple #131

Good afternoon, last night I sat down and made two cards, yes that’s right two cards in one night. My first one is for this weeks Clean and Simple sketch.

For this card I used the colour coach to help me out, as I knew I wanted to use Rich Razzleberry for the flowers but couldn’t decide what other colours to use.  so the colour coach gave me Pretty in Pink and Early Espresso. At first I wasn’t too sure about the Early Espresso but it came together nicely. I embossed the cardstock with the Textured Impressions folder but it was too much so I put it back through using another folder and the result was great you can see the textured impressions behind the swirls but it is only faint so it works well. As for the flowers I wanted each set to look different but this stamp set only has two flowers in the pack and I didn’t want to use any others, so I stamped the large ones in Rich Razzleberry and the smaller ones in Pretty In Pink. with the curled ones on top I stamped in Pretty in pink after Rich Razzleberry without cleaning the stamp, this gives a slightly darker shade of pink. I simply used my piercing tool to curl the top one up.

Try Stampin’ On Tuesday #5

Good afternoon, last night I sat down and made a card for this weeks sketch challenge for Try Stampin’ on Tuesday. As soon as I saw the sketch I knew what I wanted to do, I love brayering but I haven’t done it for a while so this card was perfect for that technique. I finished it with some Linen thread as I thought it needed just something else to complete the card.

After it was made I showed my husband the end result and a got a WOW from him, which is always lovely to hear, he said he loves the look of brayering, and with this stamp works perfectly. I just wish the glossy paper showed up better in a photo.

Here is the sketch:

Fold Out Album

Just take a look at this beauty. We made this album at Jacques on Monday night, at our last class we were told we were going to make a mini album, so I asked for one that had lots of openings. This one certainly did, and it turned out perfect, just want I wanted to learn how to make.

Here are the photos:

The cover, for this we used the On Board Mix and Match chipboard, which we coloured with markers, (this is in case the glitter misses a spot) then we covered it in glitter, the picture is so shiny, we could choose any or multiple images from the packet. There are three brads and the only stamping we did was here on the sentiment. And of course the ribbon is the 5/8 grosgrain in Real Red.

And a few photos of the album opened:

A big thanks to Jacque for this one, I loved every minute of making it.

Grunge Rock Birthday

Last night my husband asked me to make a birthday card for his brother, since he is having such success with his music I thought I would make him a card rather than getting one out of my already made stash. Dave has done really well with his latest song being selected for the TV2 ad theme song and also on the charts his song “Love, Love, Love” is also doing really well.

I decided to borrow the set Grunge Rock off Julia since it had the guitar on it. I did ask Nick what colours he wanted this card and all I got was brown, so here is the card I made:

And of course the inside:

Try Stampin’ on Tuesday #4

Good afternoon, man where does the time go, Last year I found it pretty easy to find time to blog (and make cards) but so far this year, not so good. Last night I really wanted to sit down and create so I made a card. I then checked out this weeks challenge from Try stampin’ on Tuesday and thought I could re-make the card but a little bit differently.

First of all I will show you the first card I made, I did CASE this but changed the colour combination. I am sorry I don’t know who made the original so please take credit if this is yours. I just love the colours, I like the neutral look with a touch of colour.

Now for the sketch Challenge:

And here is my card:

DSC09133

I sponged a lot darker on this one and used a few more butterflies. I saw the technique on how to make your border punches go around a shaped object and just had to try it. I love the result. I personally think these colours are quite elegant. what do you think?

and both have the same image inside:
